Volunteer Elementary School Robotics Coaches
We believe every child has the potential to innovate and create. Our dedicated team of volunteer coaches is here to ignite a passion for STEM in elementary school students through hands-on robotics experiences.
Inspiring Young Minds Through Robotics
About Us
Leela and Sonia Prakash, students at Tampa Prep, started this program at Tampa Bay Boulevard Elementary School in 2023. They applied for their first grant of many and won the funding to start the program. Since then, they have expanded, allowing them to reach out to new schools and teach more students. Their goal is to spread knowledge of STEM to the younger generation and to increase the participation of kids in younger grades. They are open to new schools wishing to have a similar program and high school students willing to coach and mentor at these schools.
About The Program
Our program teaches elementary school students VEX IQ Robotics. This program relies on building and coding, teaching our kids many application-based skills. Not only do they learn foundational engineering skills, but they also experience competitions where quick thinking and communication are required. These abilities can be applied later in school and life while giving them the exposure they need to the STEM world.
Meet Our Schools
We currently have an operating program at three schools: Mitchell Elementary School, Tampa Bay Boulevard Elementary School (TBBE), and West Tampa Elementary School. These schools both have weekly, morning program meetings for the students.
